CIDAR Nigeria organized two events on the occasion of world water day in Maiduguri, NE Nigeria. First one was at Jiddari Junction, ward galtimari fori of Jere LGA.
Idea was to teach water vendors how to preserve water, how to manage it well so that minimum water is wasted. Water is scarce in this region and it is important to educate people especially those who are delivering water to people everyday. If these water vendors and delivery boys understand the importance of saving water they can spread the word much faster.
In the presence of RUWASA officials and community leaders CIDAR’s programme director and a very senior and respected WASH expert Mr Naser Ahmed Khan explained to water vendors how they can save water, by just taking care of a few little things. Team CIDAR led by CEO Hajiya Saba Rahman spread the word among water vendors and local people by demonstrating them how to fill water in water containers, what steps to take in carrying water containers to minimise spilling of water. Besides they were also educated about the reuse of water.
