Globally, 30 million children lived outside their country of origin in 2017. About 12 million children were refugees and asylum seekers. Millions more have been affected by international migration. For example, some are stateless because they were born outside the borders of their parents’ home country. Others experience family disruption when their parents migrate.

In a recently conducted poll by UNICEF, young migrants and refugees aged 14-24 answered questions about health, education and crossing the border. Nearly 40 per cent of the young migrants and refugees who participated in the poll said they received no help during their journey in search of a safe and better future.
