A Walk For Water, a walk for children by children

Amman Imman: Water is Life/Montessori Wells of Love
Derwood, Maryland, United States, 17 May 08

Montessori Students and the Amman Imman Project

A collaborative fundraising event for students to benefit Program Amman Imman and the children in the Azawak of Niger

During nine months of the year, in stifling 100+ degree temperatures, the children of the Azawak make a marathon hike for water, inspired not by an athletic goal, but by a desperate need. They travel up to 30 miles in a day, in an oppressive heat, with little to eat. They know that if they don't return soon, one of their family members might die.

To bring an awareness to the challenges these
children face, and to raise money to bring them clean water, area schools, students, their friends and families are invited to participate in a special event: "A Walk For Water", a collaborative fundraising project to support the mission of
Program Amman Imman : Water is Life (www.waterforniger.org). Amman Imman is dedicated to saving and improving the lives
of the people in the Azawak region of Niger, West Africa by supplying permanent water sources.
