Water and Sanitation- Role of Youth

The Institute of Sustainable Development proposes to observe the World Water Day 2008 by organising a programme for youth titled Water and Sanitation Role of Youth. The programme is meant to create awareness among the youth about water and its interrelationship with sanitation. About 400 students are expected to participate the programme and the NSS volunteers being change agents in the society, would carry forward the messages to a greater community of peers as well as public.
The programme includes a debate on 'Reason for Open Defecation: Poverty or Force of Habit?', street play on Water Conservation, Folk performance on sanitation, side events including exhibition/poster presentation of government schemes for water as well as sanitation, water quality testing, water conservation methods, water saving irrigation techniques etc. The programme will conclude with the Water Day address by the chief guest.
