The Small Earth Nepal

The Water Week Organizing Committee Nepal 2009 (Over 50 organizations, including government, non government, professional societies, youth clubs) has planned to organize a week long (from 18 to 23 March 2009) program entitled “Water Week 2009” with the theme – Water, Climate and Our Life: Merging Interests, Creating Synergies. The water week has been designed to commemorate the World Water Day (March 22) and World Meteorological Day (March 23) in order to propagate the message of the importance of water and climate to life and the risk that is growing along with them.

The main objective of the program is to aware and sensitize policy makers, development planners, bureaucrats, environmentalists, researchers, advocacy groups, students and the society as a whole on the water and climate issues, and illustrate the need and generate a thrust on proper management of water – the scarce resource.

The proposed programs include Water Walk, media interaction and press releases (18 March), Watar Exhibition (20-21 March) with documentary/movie shows, art competition/exhibition, release of books, talks on water and climate related subjects (19-21 March) and World Water Day Conference (22 March) and World Meteorological Day Conference (23 March) followed by a formal closing ceremony. These programs are targeted to the national and local stakeholders, municipalities, environmental groups, youth groups, school and college students and general public.
