Guardian Micro Finance Institution would celebrate World Water Day – Borrowers Meet on 23rd March 2009 by 10.00 am in central location of Tiruchirapalli town. This event would be attended by potential borrowers who availed water credit for creating household water and toilet facilities, AWASH committee members, eminent scholars connected with water and sanitation, members from Donor agencies, officials of city administration and bankers from nationalized and commercial sector.
Guardian microfinance institution, a not for profit organization, is started during 2007 under Sec. 25 of the Companies Act 1956 exclusively for on lending to women community in rural and urban by addressing their financial need through micro credit for the creation of individual water and toilet facilities for their own. Currently Guardian is working in Tiruchirapalli city Corporation and 9 blocks namely Thottiam, T. Pet, Thuraiyur, Mannachanalloor, Manikandam, Tiruverumbur, Uppiliapuram, Lalgudi and Pullambadi of Tiruchirapalli District in Tamilnadu, India..
Guardian is mobilizing loan fund locally from Nationalized and commercial banks for on lending to women SHG / JLG members for water and sanitation. Guardian has so far made lending to 3642 members of 510 Women SHGs / JLGs with Rs. 2.41 Crores ($ 602,500) under water credit initiatives.Guardian's water credit initiatives are being supported by WaterPartners International, USA.
