Theme 2009: Transboundary water

In 2009, the focus of World Water Day on March 22 is on transboundary waters: sharing water, sharing opportunities. UNECE and UNESCO are the lead UN agencies this year. More information is available on the official UN World Water Day website: http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/

Transboundary water management is not an IRC theme. However, we do occasionally publish news articles on it in our news blogs. Some relevant documents published on this topic can also be found in the IRC digital library IRCDOC.

Another source of information is the database on water resources which has many entries on boundary waters, rivers and lakes as international borders etc.
