Small Springs Form Great Waters. Polish Network of Ecoclubs selebrates the World Water Day

On the 21th March the Polish Network of Ecoclubs and the Centre for Promotion and Development of Civil Initiatives OPUS joined the celebration of the World Water Day and organized happening for local communities in Lodz. The main aim of this event was to remind to city dwellers about importance of the water’s saving and protection. The happening has been organized by members of the ecoclubs (12-25 years old youngsters and youth workers) and included different activities such as: presentation about the process of water’s cleaning on the sewage treatment plant, workshops on painting of water motifs on the ecological shopping bags, making bracelets with water ornaments, painting of joint picture about water on the big canvas, theatre performance and announcement of the results of the contest for mascot of World Water Day, etc.

The Ecoclubs is an international movement of young people, actively committed to the construction of sustainable communities. The Ecoclubs are democratic, civil society organizations, made up of children and young people who co-ordinate their actions with other community institutions in order to improve the quality of life of the population. Members of the movement design and implement awareness campaigns, making use of participative and innovative strategies, through which they seek to involve members of the community in issues such as the struggle against dengue, integral waste management, urban reforestation or water management, among other things.
