Transboundary water theme triggered interesting comments from developing countries

The World Water Day 2009 theme on sharing water, sharing opportunities (transboundary water) triggered an online discussion on our site, see http://www.worldwaterday.org/page/1938. Interestingly, 20 of the 22 comments were submitted by people from the developing world. Half of those were from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Their comments and discussion focused on water sharing conflicts India has with its neighbours, as well as between states in India.

The other main theme from the comments was a call on politicians and key policymakers to put more efforts in water conservation and, more equal water sharing between various users and uses.

In Mach 2009 alone we had 116,243 page views by 41597 (4,649 per day) unique visitors on this site.
