Water Conservation Challenge

Eight participants across Canada, as well as one in Japan and one in Indonesia are participating in a water conservation challenge throughout March, using no more than 25 litres a day to meet our basic water needs. We are participating in this challenge in order to raise awareness of the 1.1 billion people worldwide who have no access to clean drinking water, and also to highlight how much we take water for granted in developed countries.
Given that that Canadians each use an average of 329 litres of water per day in their homes, this challenge has mean some large adjustments in day-to-day living, including sponge baths, bucket laundry and minimal toilet flushing.
The challenge is happening throughout March, but World Water Day is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of this project, and get people thinking about their own individual water consumption.
