Inter School Debate Competition

IDS Nepal and Plan Nepal (Non governmental organizations) in Banke have been implementing Water and Sanitation Program for last two years. The program comprises several software and hardware activities. Besides, Different Water and Sanitation Ceremonies have been celebration for last three years. This year IDS Nepal and Plan Nepal organized an Inter School Debate Competition in Nepalgunj to celebrate the world water day. The title of the debate was "Water for life" and ten students of different five schools participated in the program. The details of the program is as follows:

Program Description:
The program started at 2:15 PM with welcome remarks by Mr. Pallab Raj Nepal, host of the program. He also described the importance and context of the "world water day celebration".
-Mr. R.K. Gautam, principal of West Zone High School, was the chairperson of the session.
-Mr. Keshab Subedi and Mr. Prakash Koirala were the jury for the competition.
-Mr. Amar Chand of IDS Nepal explained facts of the water and sanitation in context of world and Nepal.
-Contestants presented their debate. Following is the theme of their speeches.
Arjun Sahi -" Necessity of water, every body knows. Present need is to conserve water."
Bibek Acharya-"Proper and consumptive use of water is the present need"
Bijaya Bhandari-"Water is essential for all
Water is life".
Kanchan Timilsina-"Water is life, It has to be conserved."
Manju Ale-"Human is the one who cares his health, care should be taken for safe water."
Om Prakash Sharma-"Water is serving as income generating source.Water is being pollutes because of development activities.
May this world water day convey the message to conserve water sources from pollution."
Pratikshya Sahi-"Sources of water have to be protected. Water is essential for life."
Preksha Gautam-"Rivers, tubewells, wells that are the sources of water for us. We have to protect it from being polluted."
Somana Khakda-"Majorities of people are using unsafe water.Lack of resources, awareness and appropriate technology is the main reason. At least we student can create awareness on it."
Susmita Pun-"Water is essential everywhere.
Water can create employment. Water is life."
-Mr. Keshab subedi of Plan Nepal Banke delivered his speech on importance of world water day in context of Banke, Nepal.
-Mr. R. K. Gautam, chairperson of the program distributed prizes to the students ranking firs, second, third and consolation.
-Mr. R.K. Gautam announced closing of the program with a short speech.
In the progrm Om prakash sharma and Somana Khadka of Mangal Prasad High School secured first and second position respectively. Like wise Arjun Sahi of Jaya Bageswori High School and Bibek Acharya of
Bright Land High School secured third and consolation prizes respectively.
