On Way to Observe the World Water Day 2006 in Bangladesh

City/Country: Central, Regional, Divisional, District level in Bangladesh

NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation, Department of Public Health Engineering under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives of the Government of Bangladesh, Unicef, World Health Organization and WSP-The World Bank–Bangladesh have jointly planned an elaborate programme for observing the World Water Day 2006 in Bangladesh highlighting the theme of this year “Water and Culture”. With a view to observing the Day with due significance, different events have been chalked out to highlight the water issues.

The events include National Seminar, Cultural Programme on WatSan issues, TV Talk-show, publication and distribution of Poster and Leaflet, Folder and so on at Central level.

"Water and Culture: Where We Are" is the title of the National Seminar to be organized at central level. It is expected that participation of the representatives of the national and international organizations, government agencies, donor agencies, sector professionals, mass-media and other stakeholders will make the Seminar a significant event of the Day. The key issues to be discussed in the Seminar will focus on cultural aspect of water with special reference to safe water supply.

Symposium, Rally, Cultural-show on WatSan, etc will be organized at Regional, Divisional and District level country-wide. With the participation of representatives of the local government agencies, partner NGOs of NGO Forum, national and international organizations, government agencies, mass-media, and other stakeholders, the Regional, Divisional and District level events will uphold the significance of the Day with due importance.
