Walk for Water in Seattle

In many communities around the world, women and children must walk up to 6 miles a day to retrieve clean water for their families. The Walk for Water on World Water Day 2006 is a symbolic act of solidarity and an effort to educate the public about the World Water Crisis. We hope you’ll join us. Event details are below.

SEATTLE

Location: Green Lake Park 7201 East Green Lake Dr N, Seattle, WA

Where to meet: The event will kick off with opening remarks at the outdoor basketball courts near the Green Lake community center and Evans Pool. The community center and Evans Pool are located on East Green Lake Drive North and NE 72nd street.

Walk Route: Participants will begin walk immediately after opening remarks (at the cement bleachers) and continue walking on the newly reconstructed 2.8-mile paved path around the lake. Walkers will do one lap around the lake, ending in the same place the event began.

Walk Time: 9:00am

Walk distance: 2.8 miles
