The Hydrological, Biological and Social Values of The Luquillo Mountain Range - El Yunque Rain Forest

A panel will discuss: a ) the hydrological value and contribution of water to the communities of eastern Puerto Rico, b) the value of water in sustaining Luquillo's Mountain Range biodiverisity , and c) the role of water in the social and spiritual setting. Outreach to the academic community will occur. The Forest Service administers eight watersheds. The forest supplies 100 % of the water consumed in the region. The Interamerican University is the leading academic instituion serving eastern Puerto Rico.
The celebration fosters dialogue on significant water use and land zoning issues.
