NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation

Like the previous years, this year NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation in joint collaboration with the Department of Public Health Engineering of the Government of Bangladesh, World Health Organization, World Bank and UNICEF is going to observe the World Water Day, 22 March, with due significance in Bangladesh.
NGO Forum, as the apex networking and service delivery WatSan organization in the country has been upholding this year’s theme of the World Water Day ‘Coping with Water Scarcity’ by observing the day with special significance. In this regard through strong collaboration and networking among the important sectoral actors NGO Forum invokes to sensitize all concerned towards harmonizing with the theme of the Day and contribute in sector promotion. This year NGO Forum along with the collaborative partners has chalked out different programmes countrywide highlighting the significance of the Day.
At the Central level a National Seminar titled ‘Water Scarcity in Bangladesh:
The Ways Out’ is going to be organized with participation of representatives from the relevant ministries, govt. departments, diplomatic missions, UN-bodies, academics, national and international development organizations, mass-media, and other relevant stakeholders. The key-issues to be discussed in the Seminar will highlight the different aspects of the nature of the crisis of safe water in Bangladesh and the possible ways to mitigate it. The other programmes include Symposium at 15 divisional/district level, Cultural Programmes upholding the theme of the World Water Day at central and district/divisional levels, Publication and Distribution of Poster on Water Scarcity throughout the country, World Water Day Rally at divisional/district levels, Publication and Distribution of Leaflets on Water Scarcity and so on.
The World Water Day events are expected to be participated by different level of people including the division/district administration, health and other relevant departments of the govt., UN-bodies, Local Government Institutions, NGOs, mass-media, local allies, academics and other relevant stakeholders.
The observance of the World Water Day throughout the country is expected to uphold the important and relevant issues related to scarcity of safe water and potential mitigation measures in the context of Bangladesh and generate awareness among all concerned about the issues and help sensitize them contribute in promotion of the sector.
