On 7 April 2017 UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, Center “Cooperation for Sustainable Development” (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and Central Asian Regional Water Network CAR@WAN jointly organized launch event of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2017 “Wastewater: The Untapped Resource” in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by 70 representatives of all interested parties, including governmental
and international organizations, educational and research institutions, as well as NGOs
and independent experts.
During the event the main conclusions and recommendations of the UN World Water Development Report 2017 “Wastewater: The Untapped Resource” were presented to the participants. In addition, the following issues were discussed:
Legal framework of wastewater management in Kazakhstan;
UN Environment “Global Wastewater Initiative”;
Wastewater infrastructure of housing and communal services in rural areas;
Wastewater utilization and prospects for the development of wastewater treatment facilities in Kazakhstan;
Presentation of the Center “Cooperation for Sustainable Development” initiative “Water-Waste-Energy”.
The results of the event were summarized during an interactive discussion.
