Daniel Iroegbu Global Health Foundation is partnering and will scale-up partnership with the Enachioken of Abiriba, Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, Abiriba Ancient Kingdom Ohafia Abia State, Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) and Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board (EBSUBEB), Ministries of Education and Water Resources to mobilize and engage the schools on safe water use, improve sanitation and handwashing, build capacity on Pre-menarche and menstrual hygiene management of vulnerable school children.
Objective of the project
The objectives of the project are to educate the adolescents’ school girls and boys on:
1. Improve safe water use.
2. Social and economic impact of poor WASH on boys and girls.
3. Menstrual hygiene management
4. Increase girls pre-menarche knowledge toward transition to puberty
The coverage of this project are government primary and secondary schools in Abiriba, Ohafia, LGA Abia State, Ebonyi State and Enugu State Nigeria.
The target groups that this project will cover include;
a) In school primary children (class 4 – 5)
b) In school secondary students
2.3 Expected project outcomes
The project is expected to
a) Improved knowledge on WASH.
b) Improved teenage girls’ menstrual hygiene management and pre-puberty girls’ knowledge before menarche.
c) Improve social and behavioural change among boys’ toward menstruation and understanding of the dignity of womanhood.
d) Improve routine handwashing culture among boys’ and girls’ to reduce tropical diseases.
