World Water Day 1999: IRC Support
IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre considers World Water Day an important event, which the centre has actively supported since 1994 through its information network. Sharing WWD information in its network and with its partners in advance of 22 March has contributed to very positive WWD action, mainly in the developing world.
The United Nations ACC Subcommittee on Water Resources has endorsed the assistance offered by the IRC. It supports the establishment of a network on WWD information, which is gradually building up. Since 1998, IRC maintains a special World Water Day page on its web site.
IRC staff has selected from its knowledge base a few key messages about integrated river basin or groundwater management programming from a global perspective. Together with local information they are meant to assist WWD public information action in many countries, such as press releases, articles and speeches.
