Water Week in Panama

During the Week of March 21-26, 1999, the Organizers of the Third Inter-American Dialogue on Water Management, in partnership with a number of other organizations, have arranged for a series of parallel meetings to take place in Panama City which collectively are referred to as Water Week in Panama.

The Third Inter-American Dialogue on Water Management, a meeting of several hundred senior water managers and policy managers, will discuss the need for future actions to improve the implementation of integrated water resources management in a number of high priority areas.

In parallel with this meeting, the Second International Colloquium on Hydrology and Water Management in the Humid Tropics will assemble approximately 100 leading researchers and water managers working in the humid tropics region from around the world.

A group of 60 to 70 invited water policy makers will meet in the Vision 2025 Workshop to discuss how economic, social, demographic and scientific forces and trends will impact the availability and supply of fresh water in the next century.

The IWRN Advisory Council will bring together 40 to 50 members of the network to discuss the future of the network and next steps towards implementing integrated water management in the Americas.

In the Children’s International Water Summit, approximately 40 children (11 to 13 years old) from 30 countries will meet to learn about the water issues of other countries and to discuss how they and their families might help to solve some of these problems.

At the Exhibition AQUA '99, consultants, water-related industrial firms, publishing companies, professional organizations, water related organizations, and NGOs will present exhibits of their products, services and programs.
