Water Festival in Auckland

Raising awareness in the local community of the nature and recreational resource available in the Meola Creek and area, publicising the pollution in that creek, working with the local schools who are adjacent to the creek to raise awareness of the creek.

Meola Creek Eco-care has decided to hold a Water Festival on Sunday, March 25. The group has been motivated to start what they hope will be the first of many Meola Water Festivals.

The festival is being held at at Pasadena Intermediate School in Point Chevalier, Auckland - we are now busy getting support and involvement from Metrowater, Auckland Regional Council, Auckland City Council, Greenpeace, Volunteer Coastguard, local school cultural groups, and various other local and nation ecological and water-based recreational groups.

Because drinking water health is not a big issue in New Zealand, they have broadened the focus to 'Healthy Water' - in our streams and rivers, and in the harbours. Protecting the water we use for recreation, fishing, swimming and so much more.

Hopefully it will be the first of many annual Water festivals!
