WWD 2001 Event
Action in WHO AFRO region
1. Central African Republic: celebrated a "Water Week" 19-24 March on the occasion of World Water Day. Various events took place such as workshops, radio and TV spots, awareness raising activities and educational slogans were broadcasted.
Statements on WWD were made by:
- President of the National Committee on Water and Sanitation
- Dr. Ebrahim M. Samba, Regional Director for the African Region
- UNICEF Representative
2. Mozambique : a competition for a newspaper article on the theme "water and health" was launched.
3. Cap-Vert: issued a newsletter highlighting events for World Water Day.
4. Burundi : numerous newspaper articles were published for World Water Day
5. Algeria : numerous newspaper articles were published for World Water Day
