“WWD in Lithuania is being celebrated since 1996 by the Faculty and College of Water and Land Management. I received the first information about WWD from the IAHR Newsletter. I found that it was very important Day, and so I initiated its celebration in our institution, with active support of our Rector Prof. A.Kusta, Dean Assoc.Prof. Z.Rimkus, and many of my colleagues.
“WWD celebrations here take various forms. We try to make them informative and interesting and to ensure that there were many participants. WWD celebrations are highlighted in our daily newspaper ‘Kauno diena’ (‘Kaunas day’), and also in our professional journal ‘Zemetvarka ir
melioracija’ (‘Land management and reclamation’).
“This year we are also getting ready for WWD ‘2001 celebration. Our new Dean, Associate Prof. A. Maziliauskas proposed some new interesting celebration forms, such as a student's contest on water and health problems both in the world and in Lithuania. An article about WWD ‘2001 is being prepared for ‘Kauno diena’.
“We are sure that WWD celebrations here will be successful this year too!”
