World Water Day 2001: Water for Health

Overview of events

WWD 2001 Event
World Wide Fund for Nature

On March 22, the World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia (WWFM) will be launching a music video, a music album (compilation) and also a “Water Song” album. The album and songs came about because we in WWFM wants to go all out to hit popular media channels to increase target audiences for our awareness campaigns. We have copies of the “Water Song” available and if your organization is interested, we could send a copy to you. Unfortunately the music video has not been converted to a CD format. It will be in due time in which case you could also contact us.

In addition, another event will be organized in conjunction with WWD on April 8th. Held at Lake Titiwangsa, WWFM will be organizing a WATER FOR LIFE campaign. This campaign again is to increase awareness among the Malaysian public on how to think about, manage and use water resources wisely.

The highlight of the campaign will be a 9-hour endurance canoe relay race (we have the volunteer team from Team Sabah 2000 from Eco-Challenge helping us) where we are getting corporate sponsors to sponsor a team to race. In this event, we hope to raise funds for future water conservation works in Malaysia.

We are of course having various other activities during that day (9 hours is a long race) and they are recycling, face painting, colouring contest, concerts and etc. Feel free to visit our website at: www.wwfmalaysia.org.

On April 1st 2001, we will be launching our first water website at www.water.org.my
