WWD 2001 Event
Belgium - Aquavisie initiatives

The six public water companies of Flanders (Belgium), grouped by the Aquavisie project, intend to emphasise the importance of clean and safe drinking water.

During this WWD period, they have planned several activities such as :

  • the distribution of a poster and a leaflet “Water from the tap: tasty and healthy”.
  • the release of a brand new educational WATER-CD-rom, made by the AWW company, in order to provide correct information to schools and to the public. This CD-rom is available in Dutch. Mail to aww@aww.be
  • distribution of a water saving gadget for toilet reservoirs, an initiative of the VMW company;
  • a special edition of “De waterkrant”, a newspaper from the Pidpa company, partly dedicated to World Water Day. This edition “spring 2001" is available in Dutch. For a free number, mail to info@pidpa.be

On visiting day, March 25, you can also visit several plants or installations in :

  • Koksijde : the water production project and the educational center from the IWVA company, located Doornpannestraat 1 and 2 (from 10 am to 5 pm - website : www.iwva.be).
  • Oostduinkerke : the water tower Groendijk from the IWVA company, located at the crossing of the Nieuwpoortsesteenweg and the Kinderlaan (from 10 am to 5 pm - website : www.iwva.be).
  • Louvain : the water production plant of Vlierbeek from the VMW company, located Kortrijksestraat 208 in Vlierbeek (from 2 pm to 6 pm - website : www.vmw.be).
  • Ghent : technical workshops at the TMVW company, Stropkaai 14, illustrating items such as leak detection, GIS in relation to water distribution networks, interactive taste and odour tests of drinking water and so on (from 10 am to 4 pm )
