The Department of Health supported by WHO is coordinating the WWD 2001 celebration in Myanmar on 22nd March. The Working Committee meeting on Tuesday, 13th March decided that the Day's events will consist of:
an Opening Ceremony where the Minister of Health and the WHO Representative in Myanmar will address,
an Exhibition where concerned Departments, UN Agencies and INGOs have been invited to present relevant concerns, and
a Seminar cum Workshop chaired by the Deputy Minister of Health, where 7 papers on relevant issues will be presented by concerned Departments, followed by a VIPP session to identify key action points and recommendations.
From UNICEF side, we are supporting the Ministry of Water Resources and Urban Development to demonstrate the use of the Potalab water testing kit and the Merck Arsenic test kit during the exhibition along with other materials they will show on rural water supply. I have been asked to present an overview of key issues on Water and Health at the Seminar, which I will do.
