World Water Day 2001: Water for Health

Overview of events

WWD 2001 Event
Netherlands - action at IHE/IRC

On 22 March World Water Day the location of IHE and IRC will be the venue for some WWD action with WWD posters from the WWD web site on display for the hundreds of students. Also on that day various agencies are involved in organizing at IHE the symposium “Dikes and Dams in Development”, where attention will be paid to WWD as well. The Netherlands Committees of the International Commission on Large Dams (NETHCOLD) and of the International Commission of Irrigation and Drainage (NETHCID) jointly organize this one-day seminar, in cooperation with the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) and students discussion groups of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Delft Technical University.

Participants will discuss the roles of dikes and dams in the management and development of river basins. IRC will prepare poster and make available handouts on WWD.
