Awareness Workshop & Poster contest by AYUDH Amrita Chapter, Durgapur, Kolkata
AYUDH (Amrita Yuva Dharma Dhara) is an international youth movement of Mata Amritanandamayi Math guided by Sadguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi who is the world–renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader. AYUDH is dedicated to empowering young people to contribute to a peaceful and sustainable world and become compassionate leaders with a sense of tolerance, solidarity and global responsibility. Founded in Kerala in 1985, AYUDH now has units across Asia, Europe, North and South America, Africa and Australia. It is active in more than 41 countries worldwide and 23 states in India. AYUDH has more than 70 chapters in India. This year for World water day , on March 22, the members of AYUDH chapter, Durgapur , took an initiative to spread awareness on World water day conducting awareness campaigns, workshops, idea writing and poster competition on water conservation for the school children of Amritavidyalayam, Durgapur.
The theme of 2019 World Water Day, “Leaving no one behind “came into focus through the presentation and videos. We conducted an inter-group poster making competition in which the students were asked to write ideas and to represent the topic on saving water in their daily life. Following this there was demonstration of SIP method of small scale drip plantation that the children could practice themselves and grow samplings in the school premises and at home. Finally, we sang a song together on water conservation and pasted awareness posters near washing areas in school. Then prize was distributed for the winners of poster making and finally the session concluded by taking a pledge to save water and spreading awareness among people, and to celebrate world water day every year.
