Festa della scafa sul Tevere
Historical reenactment of the small vessels that used to cross the Tiber river in Rome.  In the absence of bridges, it was possible, in the past, to cross rivers (favouring socialization, gatherings and trade) thanks to small crafts. These, in central Italy, were named “scafe”. In particular, south of the city of Rome they were quite common also in the recent past. Still nowadays, it is difficult for walkers and bikers to cross the Tiber river from one side to the other. For this reason for one day, thanks to small paddle crafts, it will be possible to cross the river, also carrying bicycles. The “festa” della Scafa is now an annual local event that occurs during the World Water Day in order to connect through the water the two pathways running along river banks, known as sentiero Pasolini on the right and as a stretch of the Regina Ciclarum the left bank, and their communities. It is organize by the www.tibertour.com with the strong collaboration of local organizations.
