As part of World Water Day and in line with this year’s theme to “leave no one behind”, the members of Project Rise, a philanthropic initiative of the Dawoodi Bohra community, installed hand pumps in parched villages of Maharashtra. The installation of the hand pumps will not only provide drinking water to over 3500 locals living and working in the area but also help in reducing the workload of women who would earlier have to walk long distance to collect water. Project Rise undertook this initiative with the support of Rotary Club of Bombay, Midtown and EmpowHer India Foundation who collectively engaged with local communities to install these pumps.
