A One-Day Workshop on “WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT” is being organized on 22 March 2019 by the Department of Geo-Engineering, AUCE (A) in association with Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG), Visakhapatnam Chapter & Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), Visakhapatnam Chapter to commemorate the International Water Day. The most significant experience of the 21st century is the apparent rapid growth in larger cities due to industrial development and consequent population growth. The ground water is generally a sensitive part of the ecosystem and is the immediate victim to environmental degradation due to industrialization, urbanization and intense agricultural activities. Availability of water mainly depends on factors such as the economics of water supply, the legalities of water acquisition and the situation and site of location requiring water, besides other important physical factors such as relief, geology and hydrology. Surface and ground water resources are important for the survival of life on earth. While planning for land use, the groundwater recharge zones in any area should also be taken into consideration using proper mapping techniques. This workshop is aimed at providing training to the young government officials, teachers, researchers and students, on present situation of water resources, and the need for the development and management of the finite water resources, which are under threat in the climate change scenario. Besides, Water Quality and Micro level planning for the water resources improvement will also be discussed in the Workshop.
