Yarning by the river, Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia
We are a group of women called the River Yarners. In Australia “yarning” refers to both textile crafts and telling stories. We are crocheting, knitting and weaving a long representation of the Macquarie River (Indigenous name, Wambool), which is part of Australia’s mighty Murray-Darling river system. This summer we have had repeated tragic fish kills in the system near Menindee. We will sit by the river at Peace Park in Bathurst on Friday March 22 from 2pm to 4pm and work on our river. All welcome. Bring your wool and needles or just come along for a yarn!
