Groundwater early warning system - Madagascar

The chronic lack of water in the semi-arid regions of southern Madagascar has been exacerbated by frequent droughts which lead to food insecurity and malnutrition crises. UNICEF is leading the implementing of a pilot groundwater early warning system (GEWS) for the southern regions of Madagascar to detect groundwater depletion and help plan water resource usage and prepare responses to emergencies.
