A new Water Action Agenda
One of the main outcomes of the UN 2023 Water Conference, 22-24 March, is the Water Action Agenda.
The Agenda is the collection of all voluntary commitments to accelerate progress in the second halves of both the Water Action Decade 2018-2028 and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
All existing water-related voluntary commitments that were made on the SDG 6 Acceleration Actions platform will be added to the Water Action Agenda, plus all the new ones generated at the UN 2023 Water Conference and in the months and years to follow.
Crucially, in addition to “institutional” commitments made by governments, the UN system, companies and others, the World Water Day 2023 campaign is asking individuals, schools and communities to make commitments that may be smaller in scale but make a meaningful contribution to the global effort to solve the water and sanitation crisis.
