UNESCO staffers join the World Water Run
Staff members from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are running or walking 5 to 10km on World Water Day (22 March) as a way of raising global awareness of the ever-increasing freshwater shortages the world is facing.
The World Water Run calls on people worldwide to take action in support of meaningful water action to tackle the global water crisis. Participants are invited to run or walk a distance of their choice, anywhere in the world, between 16 and 23 March 2023.
The World Water Run is championed by the water advocate and ultramarathon runner, Mina Guli. During her year-long campaign, the Run Blue Campaign, she has pledged to run 200 marathons in one year to draw attention to the global water crisis. Mina will run her last Run Blue marathon during the World Water Run, finishing on the steps of the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
